*Also, the DS has a vast library of great games in Japanese, many of which implement designs which test your writing on the touch screen and your speaking with the built-in microphone. Here’s a short list of Nintendo DS titles I can personally recommend, starting with easy enough for beginners up to intermediate and advanced learners of Japanese.
*The DS is primarily a gaming system. Get them a DS if you want them to play some video games, not if you want to teach them something. There are a few titles but I don’t know why you wouldn’t.
*If there’s one thing we love to cover, it’s mature games for immature gamers. Unfortunately, adult games for the Nintendo DS are rare, especially in the US - some publishers have even made sure.
Shop for Nintendo DS/Dsi Games in Nintendo 3DS / 2DS / DS / DSi. Buy products such as Pokemon HeartGold with Pokewalker (DS) at Walmart and save.
That’s right. Playing video games help you learn Japanese.
In my opinion, you learn a lot more by playing video games because they are more interactive than watching a movie, anime, drama, or reading a book. They have a lot of repetition of words so you will learn their meanings quite quickly. And to top it off, they’re fun.
